Our venue was "A Friend's House", which is a historic landmark in Kragnes, MN. The venue has many buildings on its sprawling property including a classic little white chapel, a renovated barn for dancing, and a big gazebo where we had our first dance. All the buildings have Christmas lights on them so during the evening it looked stunning. It was really like a fairy tale! The weather was gorgeous the day of our wedding, so our ceremony and reception were able to be outside. We had our ceremony on the porch of the white chapel, and our guests were seated on the lawn in front of the church. It was a beautiful backdrop. After wedding ceremonies, the owners of the property right the big church bell, and it's such a nice touch! We had our dance in the hayloft of the renovated barn. It was nice because the older adults were able to sit outside the barn and visit while us youngins danced the night away inside.
Another great thing about our venue was that the owners allowed us to bring in our own food and beverage. They gave us a whole slew of catering suggestions, including having a pig roast. As soon as the owner mentioned a pig roast, I couldn't get it out of my head. We booked Pork n' Boys, and they were wonderful. They set up an outdoorbuffet of the shredded pork for the pork roast, their famous pork n'beans, coleslaw, buns, and lemonade. It was a major hit. It was verycasual and relaxed. Guests loved seeing the pig roast on the spitbefore the ceremony. My husband made most of the beer for thereception, and we made wine to put on the table as party favors. Itwas such a gorgeous evening to just relax and enjoy the festivitiesaround friends and family."
