From the couple: Our wedding took place along the rustic and oh-so-romantic French Countryside in the Cote D'Azure. Not only was it beautifully intimate -just as we had envisioned in our wildest dreams...it was also filled with so much love, sincerity, and happiness blowing in and around us like a warm breeze! Smiles and laughter were the theme of the day. Its the little things in life, as with our wedding, that made it so special. Because we wanted it to be so personal and enjoy design ourselves, our dreamy details laced throughout the day were brought to life by the loving hands of family, dear friends, and of course, ourselves. From the handwritten name cards hung across dried twine secured by weathered clothespins across double french doors, to the blue mason jar centerpieces filled with wild bouquets, to the table names inspired by a delicate flower from the region of the people at that table, to the favors of delicate jute wrapped + hand tied petite jars of jam from the US, we couldn’t have been more pleased! Imperfect white chairs were arranged carefully in the yard with a stunning view of the French mountains and Mediterranean sea in the distance. An beautifully flowered arch stood where we were to marry that secretly had 2 knifes placed below it in an x to fend off any rain early on in the day. When the we later walked the aisle and stood facing each other on the forgotten x marks the spot we could barely contain our joy and excitement to see each other and enter into such a special union. Following the ceremony, trays of champagne awaited our smiling guests. Food the entire week was prepared by my husband’s (I still love saying that!) brother in law and his lovely sister. Baskets to collect love notes and letters were beautifully decorated by the bride’s aunt. The intimate nature of the wedding was one of our many favorite parts; we were able to talk to everyone and spend time with all the people we cared about there. "Love not gonna let me down".. that was the theme to the first song we danced to that night. It had a reggae beat and epitomized the lighthearted but deep-rooted feeling of the day. And we hope to be saying it on our 70th wedding anniversary. With a feeling like fireflies in the air on a warm summer night, we all danced under the stars until we couldn't dance anymore. Love was abundant and smiles were intoxicating. Not just a day to remember, more importantly, people and feelings to keep close always.
