From Alyssa: This July I had the opportunity to go to France and volunteer at a kids camp in Alsace, France. One of my primary jobs during the week was to be the camp photographer, which was so much fun! During my time in the Alsace region, I was able to visit the town of Kayersburg (a really quaint town) and the Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg (a castle with stunning views of the Black Forest mountains in Germany). Alsace truly is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. The views are breathtaking, the people are so kind there, and the photo opportunities are endless.
After the week of camp was over, the team I was a part of visited Paris for two days, which happened to include Bastille Day (or le quatorze juillet in French). The city was bustling and busy, and the weather was magnificent. I stayed in the Hotel Concorde Montparnasse which has really nice rooms, a marvelous breakfast, and is conveniently located near the Montparnasse metro station.
The last time I had been to Paris was when I was 13 and only had a disposable camera with me. This time I was visiting the city with fresh eyes, an even stronger love of all things French, and of course a lot more camera gear! I love Paris so much - the architecture, the food, the museums, the art, the landscapes - it's all so lovely and always photo-worthy. I particularly enjoyed seeing the Shakespeare & Company bookstore, Sacré Cœur, the Louvre, purchasing a watercolor painting from a street vendor along the Seine, and watching the Bastille Day fireworks with friends. This trip was truly something I will never forget - I can't wait to go back. À bientôt, Paris!
