Italy Destination Wedding by Rochelle Cheever Photography

We won't lie saying that we swoon over destination weddings, especially if they take place in splendid Italy. The land of beauty, unreal scenery, and divine music of love in the air. When Kelly and Tom started planning their wedding, they quickly picked a Chanel inspired theme mixed with a rustic touch. Light blue and white colors were the main colors of the wedding, and they were truly ideal for the magnificent scenery of the wedding location. The blue sky, crystal clear water, charming villas surrounded by lemon trees, the couple incorporated a lot of unique details into the planning of their special day.

The dapper groom wearing a blue suit and the bride looking astonishing in her Jenny Packham dress, the couple enjoyed themselves exploring a small Mediterranean town with musicians playing traditional Italian tunes and riding a little moped. Viva Italia! Viva amore!

About their wedding: Kelly was immediately smitten with Tom after taking notice of his manners, charm and blue eyes. Tom spent a few months out of town and during that time, the two exchanged emails with one another every day. They went on their first official date shortly after Tom’s return. After a year of dating, Tom surprised Kelly with a proposal just days before Christmas. When Kelly opened a holiday card from her beau, she noticed it was addressed to his fiancé. She turned to him in shock and found him on his knee holding a ring perfectly wrapped in its tiny box that was hanging from the Christmas tree. Kelly was so happy she obviously said yes, and the rest is history.

The moment the couple started planning their wedding, they knew they wanted to personalize their day with touches close to their heart. They both have an eye for fashion and chose the vintage look for their wedding day style and table décor. They even mixed some vintage aspects by incorporating pieces belonging to family members into their wedding day. To honor the recent loss of Kelly’s father, Tom wore one of his favorite watches. They also utilized their “something old” with a trinket box holding the wedding rings that was given to Kelly by her grandmother.

In addition to incorporating family into their wedding day, there were other aspects of their wedding that held a lot of meaning to Kelly and Tom. One of Kelly’s favorite books is Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. She took three balloons and designed the strings with heart-shaped cut outs from the classic novel. Giving back is also important to the couple, so they gave out charity shoes from Gandy’s Flip Flops to their female guests to wear during the walk to Cimbrone and a night of dancing.

Having their wedding in Italy was like a dream to Tom and Kelly. They have always adored this romantic country and it was the perfect place for them to get married. After saying “I Do,” the two ventured off for their walk through Villa Cimbrone. Thanks to Rochelle Cheever, she captured the newlyweds in the beautiful area effortlessly and now they can look back on them for years to come. The couple also loved their ceremony music. So much so that they played the same instrumental song Kelly walked down the aisle to in its vocal version for their first dance. It was a magical moment for both of them, and they felt as if they were the only ones there as they danced together as husband and wife.

After surviving the stress that wedding planning brings, Kelly has plenty of advice to offer future brides planning their own destination wedding. Personalize your special day to you and your future spouse since that is what makes the day unique and special. The day should be about who you are as a couple and that shouldn’t interfere with your plans regardless of how far away you are doing the planning. Lastly, the most important thing to keep in mind is to enjoy each moment from your wedding day because it will be over in the blink of an eye.
