Wisconsin Engagement Session by Julia Franzosa Photography

Tyler and Tina met over 3 years ago through work. It was ‘through’ work and not ‘at’ work because Tina is a designer and Tyler is a general contractor, and their two companies were working together to renovate a new office building in downtown Chicago. They tried their best to keep their relationship quiet till after the project was over, but the team was suspect long before that. Tyler grew up in Barrington, IL, right outside of Chicago while Tina grew up 2 states over in Cleveland, OH. When Tyler mentioned he has spent the majority of their summers in Lake Geneva, WI, Tina didn’t even know where that was. A month later Tyler took Tina to Wisconsin for her first time and she also met his parents for the first time. Tyler’s family has owned the lake house for over 25 years and it has now become a special place for this couple. In the summer they bring their dog, Leavitt, up here where they run, bike and swim. In the fall, spring and winter they snowboard at Alpine Valley and hike along the path with Leavitt. They now want to share this special place with Chicagoans and Clevelanders, alike. They will be getting married here next September at a Camp (George Williams Conference Center) around the corner from the Lamkey’s house.

Their love story: Tyler and Tina met through work; Tina is a designer and Tyler is a general contractor, and their two companies were working together to renovate a new office building in downtown Chicago. They tried their best to keep their relationship quiet till after the project was over, but the team was suspect long before that. When Tyler mentioned he has spent the majority of his summers in Lake Geneva, WI, Tina (from Ohio) barely knew where that was. They now want to share this special place with all of their family and friends, they will be getting married here this September at a Camp (George Williams Conference Center) around the corner from the lake house house.

The proposal: Similar to how we met, Tyler surprised me on my job site and when I least expected it. I was in a client meeting in Glendale, Wisconsin. My client got a phone call at the end of the meeting, just as I was about to leave...Ann lead me to the entrance of the site where a black car was waiting. The car took me to the Milwaukee Art Museum, where two years prior, Tyler and I went for a weekend getaway. Tyler was at the edge of the Santiago Calatrava addition (looking out onto Lake Michigan) in a suit, with a table of champagne. I walked to the edge (in my work boots) and Tyler got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I then found out the whole weekend was planned, from dinner to where we would stay. It was the best surprise I had even received.

About their engagement session: We found Julia through our friend Meg of Pistil and Vine; Although we live in Chicago, we knew Lake Geneva would be quite picturesque in the Fall, not to mention it gave us another excuse to spend the weekend up their for Tina's birthday. Julia and I drove together from Chicago and Tyler met them us at the lake house. We had a a great time with Julia, stopping by our favorite spots, like Pearce's farm stand, Yerkes Observatory and of course the Lamkey's lake house. Julia was so easy to work with and such a good sport to come all the way up to the lake for our engagement session.
