Vintage Engagement Session by Brett Hickman Photographers

Their love story: We met through mutual friends in college. I don't think that either of us were looking for love at that point, but it just happened. No matter how hard we tried to fight it, we were meant for each other. We're best friends.

The proposal: We were at Brad's parents' beach house in Oxnard, CA with our best friends Brittany and Kyle. Kyle was home on leave from his tour in Afghanistan and we were so excited to spend the weekend with him at our favorite place. Right around sunset, Brittany and Kyle decided that the four of us should take some pictures since Kyle would have to leave for Afghanistan shortly after and because the sunset at the beach house is incredible. We all started walking out on the sand together, but Brittany and Kyle started to walk a little bit slower than us as we got closer to the water. Brad started telling me how much he loved me and that I was his best friend, which is a pretty normal thing for him to do, but I could tell he was nervous about something because he was also talking about the weather. All of a sudden, he got down on one knee, pulled out a gorgeous ring, and asked me to marry him. It was the best moment of my life, and the best part is that Brittany and Kyle were taking pictures the whole time!

About their engagement session: Brett Hickman is an amazing photographer and so is his assistant Nick Wisda, who was originally going to do our engagement session. Unfortunately Nick got really sick the day before the shoot and Brett had to step in for them. He did an incredible job and we are so thrilled with the results. We are also very excited to have Nick shoot our wedding photos!
