A fun and casual rustic engagement session

From the couple: Jason and I chose to have our wedding in Los Gatos, California, a cute little town nestled in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains in the San Francisco Bay Area. As residents of Los Gatos, we love being in walking distance to both the bustling downtown area filled with fine cuisine and stylish boutiques as well as a beautiful park and trail that allows for a variety of recreational activities with scenic views.

We wanted our engagement shoot to reflect the two worlds. For our downtown look, we aimed for fun, colorful, and casual. We added a giant balloon decorated with streamers to add a little playfulness. And wow, did that make us popular with all the little kids running around downtown!

For the second look in the park, we wanted it to have a more romantic feel which was achieved with my homemade flower crown (love online DIY tutorials!) combined with a beautiful cream colored lace dress. To keep with the light, ethereal look, Jason also wore a cream colored sweater. To be honest, I wasn't sure if I could pull off a flower crown, but I knew our amazing photographer, Jasmine Lee, could work wonders and boy, did she deliver! The images came out absolutely stunning with the most beautiful golden light. I felt as if we looked like we belonged in a fairy tale.

In addition to the balloon and flower crown, we also added a wooden ampersand sign and a Save-the-Date banner. Our DIY props ended up being a bit of a last minute project with both of us working on them together the night before our shoot. In the end, it actually ended up being a lot of fun having a craft night with my fiance! (Although he may not admit that.) The nice thing is that all of our props looked amazing in the photos so it was definitely not time wasted. Thank you again to Jasmine Lee for our beautiful engagement photos! We can't wait to work with her again for our wedding.
