DIY: Italian Aperol Spritz

"While spending some time in Italy a couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine, American wedding accessory stylist and designer Jessica Gallo mentioned something she noticed over the past year she has lived in Northern Italy---a fun drink all the Italians sip before meals. That drink is The Aperol Spritz. It's fun, summery, and completely refreshing. The perfect drink to sip on before your meal arrives and an absolutely wonderful signature cocktail for a Summer wedding! We were set on bringing this tradition back home to American weddings and events." -Danielle Nichol Photography

Here is the recipe:
  • 1 1/2 ounces Aperol
  • 3 ounces sparkling wine, chilled
  • Sparkling mineral water or club soda, chilled
  • 1 orange slice or twist

How to create a beautiful bridal sash

How to create a beautiful bridal sash
To create this simple but yet pretty bridal sash, we will need:

Materials:
1. silk (or any other soft fabric you like)
2. 2 yards of grosgrain (velvet, silk) ribbon
3. beads (crystals, assorted rhinestones, pearls)
4. millinery velvet leaves (ivory or white)

Tools:
1. needle
2. thread (ivory or white)
3. scissors

Let's start! This bridal sash is so fun and easy to make! It won't require a lot of time so if you want to surprise your bridesmaids, just follow our instructions to help your creativity come out!

Step 1: You will need to prepare 2 or 3 strips of silk or any other material you'd love to use for your flowers. We recommend cutting a 5" strip for each rosette. When it's ready, take your needle and your thread, and gather the fabric in a circular pattern to form a flower.

Step 2: Repeat the action for another flower (if you feel like having 3 flowers all together, you will need 3 strips of silk). Leave the unfinished flowers aside

Step 3: Take your flower and embellish it with various rhinestones, beads and crystals. If you feel like using pearls, add them to make your bridal sash a true statement piece!Focus on embellishing the center of your flower, and then decorate the edges of your flower for more prettiness. Repeat this action for the remainder of the flowers. If you want a lot of sparkles, embellish your velvet leaves with a few Swarovski rhinestones or loose beads.

Step 4: Attach your millinery leaves (you can use 2, 3 or as many as you wish to use) to your ribbon which will eventually become your sash. Attach your leaves to the ribbons first, and then attach your finished flowers to hide the wire of the millinery leaves... and voilĂ , your little masterpiece is ready!

We hope you enjoy creating it with us! Enjoy wearing your handmade bridal sash!

Sincerely,
Irina Francis of Lacielle Roselle
