Favourite wedding day moment - I would say the "introduction" for the first time as a married couple to all our friends and family - it really does feel like the start of something more special than i could have imagined!
The colour scheme started by wanting something elegant, knowing that we were having an evening wedding. I know I wanted to start with a palate of black and white and then add a little more of a modern "punch" with an accent colour. I am a bit of a girlie-girl and love pink, but I wanted a more sophisticated and elegant shade of pink, used appropriately so it wouldn't be overpowering. We decided on fuchsia as an accent colour, and thought if we used it in specific areas like the flowers we could achieve this affect!
The flowers were something i wasn't really picky about. I wanted something in season that fit the colour scheme - then i gave the freedom from there to the florist and decorator. We talked about hydrangeas and roses because they come in the right colour, were in season and fill a lot of space - the key was to keep it simple, as the flowers themselves did all the talking!
Advice to couples planning a wedding - be open to ideas and inspiration from anywhere (a pattern, a colour, a flower, a favourite memory together), get a system that works for you for all the wedding "stuff" (i chose a binder with a pocket insert), it is so much easier to keep confirmations, numbers, inspiration etc. all in one place! When just starting to plan, don't get overwhelmed, just start with your (and your fiancés) "favourite" or "most important" part whether that is the date, the venue, the photographers! It makes the planning process fun and will really help jumpstart everything.
