How he proposed: I knew that the proposal was coming I was just not sure as to when. I had several clues, being that September 19th was our 5 Month anniversary and his parents were going to be in town. For a few weeks Shaun had mentioned to me that he wanted to go and hike Donut Falls. After school Shaun was finished with School for the day he came to pick me up. We then headed to Sandy to go "Hires Big H" a restaurant which is owned by one of his best friends father. So we ate there and chit chatted and enjoyed being with each other. We then headed on our drive up the canyon to Donut Falls. We then went on the hike and ended up taking a wrong turn. We then ended up hiking down the waterfall instead of up to it. So we climbed down the mountain into the waterfall. There we started talking and then set up the camera timer to be able to get a picture of us in the waterfall. We ended up taking several sets of pictures. Then Shaun was persistent about taking another round of pictures. (Which me absolutely in love with pictures was excited about, however I was confused as to why he would want to do that) Then I thought to myself, " He is going to propose, and maybe he wants an action picture of himself on his knee." My heart immediately started pounding as I then began to anticipate the proposal. We set the camera timer for one last time and then he came and stood by me. He then proceeded to pull out a ring box, my brain froze. I was confused he was not getting down on one knee. He then said, " Kaitlin there is something that I have been wanting to give you." He then struggles to open the box and then pulls out a beautiful silver diamond necklace! Ha he then said, " I tricked you huh?" So then we proceeded to climb down the waterfall/ mountain. Shaun then continued and started to trail run down the hike. We both ran down the mountain until we got to our car. He then asked me if I wanted to go on another hike. I thought to myself, " Of course why not? He is not proposing this weekend." We then got in the car and then headed to what is known as Silver Lake. He then told me that I could change out of my muddy tennis shoes into my cute sandals. As we were not going to be on much of a hike, but rather a beautiful walk. We got out of the car and began walking on this board walk that wrapped around the entire lake. The lake to the right and forest on our left. It was an absolutely gorgeous view and once again, it was just nice to be with him. As we began walking I spotted a red canoe in the distance as I then turned to Shaun and said, " It would be so much fun to go on a canoe ride with you someday. We then kept walking and I began to see red rose pedals on the ground. At the moment I KNEW it was happening. As we got closer we were led to that very same red canoe I had seen earlier. He then said," Your wish is my command." As I looked at the red canoe there were 2 dozen roses along with a cooler in the canoe with a sparkly cider mexican drink and roses also laid out on the canoe. He asked if I wanted to go for a ride. We then got on the canoe and pushed off into the lake. We just smiled and laughed and talked about how much we have truly enjoyed these past 5 months together. He mentioned to me that it was the happiest he has ever been. It began to get cold as he then asked me if I would like to go back in. He told me that he wanted to show me something that he made for me. We then headed back in and he told me to sit down on a log. He then came and sat right next to me and pulled out a photo book that he had made. The title page said, " The story of how we met and fell in love." The book went through our entire dating story, our first date, first hand hold, first kiss, first time he said, " I love you." We were smiling and laughing as we went through this book. We got to the second to last page which had a ton of pictures of all our temple pictures together. He said how he has always enjoyed our temple trips. He then told me to turn to the last page. As I turned to the last page he got down on his knee and said, " Kaitlin Elise Gray will you marry me?" I immediately shouted YES almost before he could finish his sentence. Then out of the bushes came his two parents with nice zoom in cameras and his roommate had a video camera, so they were able to capture it all on film. (P.s. the last page had a picture of the Mesa Arizona Temple on it, where we will be getting married! ) After his parents kept talking pictures Shaun then said to me, "Thats not all, we are going to La Caille." That is a very fancy restaurant in Utah and the same one that we went to when he first kissed me and told me that he loved me 5 months earlier. We then went there as his mom took some pictures of us as we reminisced of where we first had truly fallen in love.
