"We knew we wanted to incorporate our love for traveling, documenting our life with photos and videos and my love for baking. We had scouted all over California to find a fitting location for us. When we came across this treehouse on airbnb, we instantly knew that this was the perfect place to capture our engagement photos." -the couple
Their love story: Kris and I first met during our college years. It was my first day working at Lacoste and Kris was nice enough to give me his commission for the day as a welcoming gesture. Although my coworkers and I thought it was crazy for such a nice gesture, I knew he was different right off the bat. We were friends for awhile before any sort of love connection. Then one day he randomly confessed his feelings for me. I was totally caught off guard and had to let him down gently. Although to this day he still claims that I had sent signals of interest, I really never thought of him as more than just a friend. Things changed quickly from there. Embarrassed of his confession, Kris started looking for another job. It made me instantly sad knowing that I wouldn’t be seeing him everyday and it made me realize that I still wanted him to be apart of my life. For reasons unknown to me, I couldn’t let this oddball leave my side.
It’s been almost 7 years since then and it has been the best years of our lives. We share a passion for food and traveling and we always try to make the most out of our time. Which has been such a great adventure so far and we can’t wait for what comes next. We’re looking forward to raising our future little monsters and taking care of our furbaby (dog), Toffer, as he gets older :)
How he proposed: Kris and I love to travel and every time we go on vacation we always love to document it with lots of photos and videos. Since our first trip to Paris back in 2010, Kris would always make a vacation highlight video for all our trips. So for my 30th birthday, he wanted to take me to Spain for the week. We spent our time in Madrid and Barcelona visiting different museums, famous landmarks and enjoying all the good eats. It was towards the end of our trip that Kris decided to propose to me. We had visited the incredible La Sagrada Familia Basilica and was headed to Parc de la Ciutadella. We made a little stop at a bench to enjoy the view of the Cascada Monumental, a beautiful monument built in 1888. Kris then pretended to time-lapse the people walking by but he was actually waiting for good moment to propose. We were sitting there for a bit and of course I was getting sleepy and wanted to lean on him to sneak in a 10 minute nap. He kept trying to keep me awake until the crowds would clear but the Cascada Monumental was such a popular landmark that it was hard not to have any tourist and cyclist making stops in front of it. He knew he didn’t want to propose with such a large crowd and decided to move us to the side of the Casada Monumental. He then setup the tripod to record a shot of both of us waving at the camera, like he always does. But this time when I realized he wasn’t waving. I looked over to him and saw that he was on his knee holding the ring. I instantly froze and all these tears just kept running down my face. I don’t think I even moved for at least 10 seconds or even said yes to him. I was just in complete and utter shock. I’m glad Kris was able to capture our engagement because so much was going on in my mind that i wanted to remember the moment. He did such an amazing job surprising me and i love and appreciate all the planning and work he put into it.
